At the end of your rope?

Feb 15, 2024

This happens quite often. You are in the middle of a basket and you're quickly running out of rope! What to do?

There are two options, and I choose which one to use based on what type of basket I'm creating.

1. Make a straight cut and tape them together with packaging tape. I definitely do this if I'm making a fabric basket, because the fabric is loose and not likely to hold the cord separation very well.

2. Cut each end at an angle, overlap them together, and continue coiling. This one is sufficient if you're using string. You'll need to be a little more careful to make sure you've secured the new cord in, all while making it look seamless, but it can certainly be done :)

Hope this helps!
